Lena has extensive experience in structuring and implementing cross-border and domestic transactions. She advises Kazakhstan and international clients on joint ventures, governmental regulation and other aspects of doing business in Kazakhstan. Clients appraise her effective skills in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.

Projects

  • a European project developer and investor in the renewable energy industry – advised on structuring and setting up business in Kazakhstan, concluding an investment agreement with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as on land use, permits and licensing, survey works and other matters related to kick-off and pre-FEED phases of a project for production of green hydrogen at a wind-solar-hydrogen plant in the west of Kazakhstan;
  • A major international financial institution – advised (including by way of conducting legal due diligence) on financing of construction and operating projects in respect of four solar power plants in various regions of Kazakhstan which were implemented by European developers/investors;
  • International lenders – advised on a secured facility to a Turkish group of companies to restructure mining operations in Kazakhstan.
